Father Sean Coyle has an inspiring (a word I am not addicted to, but justified here) post in which, starting from John 12 20-33, he moves on to the lives of Fr Patrick Sheehy, who died in 1999 and the Venerable Matt Talbot who died in 1925, and whose heroic story can be read here.
A young Spanish Priest told me, "People think that we are here to realise ourselves. We are not. We are here to empty and lose ourselves."
I thank God for my meeting with that wise young man, half my age.

Very nearly pure pedantry, since plenty of European technical literature has realize in this sense , but I expect if the young Sapnish priest you met had been English he'd have said "fulfil" for the Spanish "realizar".
There's enough (damaging ) gup out there , mostly"new Age" about fulfillment, self fulfillmet, and, yes, realization , to turn the world's good stews and soups grey with the mixing.
