Looking desperately for some reason to feel optimistic about the future of the Catholic Church in Europe, I am close to despair. We have, apparently, a heretic leading the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Where to turn to find the truth now?
If the Catholic Church were a business, it would be now on its financial knees.
What to do, apart from praying?

I wonder why Pope Benedict chose this heretic? Things may seem upside down now but God will right this craziness. God Bless.
Teresa - thank you. I know you are right, and God will of course right this craziness.
God bless!
Yes, things are a bit base over apex at present. I keep reminding myself about Archbishop Fulton Sheen's words: "It is easy to be a Catholic when you live an unchallenging life, but when things are against you that's when it's marvellous to be one". I paraphrase.
I cling to that. God bless Chris.
Wise and comforting words, Richard.
I can understand persecution coming from the enemy (I hate their guts anyway, forgive me), but what is so hard is the draughty feeling I get round the shirt-tails)when Catholic beliefs which our enemies deride are undermined by our own Bishops.
Not despairing, but sometimes close to it.
God bless!
P.S. Richard, my next post quite fortuitously illustrates the draught round the shirt-tails.
