Not Feeling Very Controversial, so Something Beautiful...

I was out in the garden I share with my neighbour and landlord on Friday. On the south side is one of two fields he owns and lets off to local farmers.

A man and his horse were harrowing the recently reaped ground. It was a beautiful, not merely picturesque, sight. The horse, on a slack rope, responded to the man's voice, and the two worked in perfect harmony.

They were at it perhaps for only 20 minutes, and it seems that the man in the pictures is a bus-driver, and the working horse only a hobby. But I have seen plenty of horses working in Poland, and like this one, clearly enjoying themselves.

Not exactly nostalgia...
(Have you ever read G.orwell's comments on the Gmanley Hopkins Poem, Felix Randal , the farrier?)
Your Photos give an inkling of what the scene must have been like.
Thanks!

Mike Cliffson - thanks for reminding me. It was a favourite poem when I was young, and I must go back to it.

P.S. Have printed it as my next post. Thanks again.
