Ad hominem attacks are usually used when people can't make a case which supports their position. I have to admit sometimes its fun to use ad hominem attacks against those bottom feeders of the Left.
Teresa - Useful too if we're dealing with the opinions of someone who has lied in the past, or is wicked, or is a pseudo-Catholic heretic.
