I LOVE this quote! and I've noticed, that when we use it, the Modernists cringe, and tell us we shouldn't be so hung up on what the saints said.
'The Modernists cringe' - hah! They would, wouldn't they.
They have slighted so much that was holy in the Catholic Church, from the Sacrifice of the Mass to the Mother of God and the Saints and Martyrs.
And their motive? A grandfatherly, doting Deity Who understands, forgives and accepts all, and feels uncomfortable with extremist Saints and Martyrs, or, indeed, with anyone who sticks his or her neck out.
They try to sanitise Jesus, even.
